Corey Walkes is on the up after being selected for the Great Britain High Performance Junior Trampoline Squad. The 12-year-old from Cheddar High Flyers Trampoline Club is one of just two in the country to be selected in the 11-12-year-old age group. Walkes is currently training in preparation for the British Championships in July and September's trials for the World Age Group competition in Bulgaria later in the year. His long-term goal is to compete at the Youth Olympics in four years' time. Walkes started bouncing on his family's garden trampoline as soon as he could walk. His parents, Richard and Pippa, took him to his first lessons at Writhlington Sports Centre at the age of six and his first coach, Laura Jardine, quickly spotted his talent. He currently trains with international performance head coach Sue Bramble at Cheddar but will now travel to Lilleshall National Sports Centre in Shropshire to train with Britain's elite trampoline gymnasts. "We are all extremely proud of Corey's achievement," said coach Bramble. "He really deserves his place in the squad as he is focused and trains hard. I am sure he will achieve his aims on the national and international stage in the future."
