MATCH REPORT: Chew Valley RFC 62 Minehead Barbarians RFC 0 Chew Valley signed off their Somerset Premier campaign in style with a nine-try demolition of Minehead. With both sides determined to entertain in the spring sunshine the game was played at pace and the crowd saw both sets of backs with plenty of ball in hand. Prop Jon Eves found himself at the end of a flowing move early on, adding a try to an earlier Alex Cameron penalty as recently-crowned champions Chew got themselves in front. The bonus-point tries came from Ross Elliott, Silas Cox, who followed up an outrageous crossfield kick from Tom Bryan to snatch a poacher's try, and Paul Todd. With the visitors' pack under pressure, injuries resulted in uncontested scrums five minutes into the second half and Minehead declined several kickable penalties to get on the scoresheet. Tom Waddington crossed when he was put clear by a well-timed from Darren Jefferies, while Mitch Quoi also touched down. James Tanner scored when Bryan was held up just short of the line, and Andy McCormack added the final touchdown, with Cameron adding seven conversions in total.
