Work has started on doubling the size of the shop at G H Lunn & Son's BP garage at Lower Weare – and no it is not going to be a Budgens.
The shop will be the first forecourt in the country to fly the Simply Fresh banner, signing up to the brand for several years.
Owners want to scotch the persisting rumour that Budgens will be the shop franchise.
Once completed in time for the May Day Bank Holiday weekend, the shop will be 1,000sq m.
Co-owner Simon Lunn said: "We are looking forward to this new venture with Simply Fresh.
"It's their first shop in the South West and its first forecourt shop in the country.
"We would like to thank customers for taking the time to write in to Sedgemoor District Council with their support for our planning application."
The shop will only be closed for Monday, April 22 while the flooring is laid. Minimal disruption is predicted after this while fittings are installed.
The official launch weekend which will include samplings will be the second Bank Holiday weekend between May 25 and 27.
Simply Fresh was set up by brothers Sukhjit and Kash Khera.
