After a quiet week, Street teams sprung into action on Saturday with two Somerset County League matches.
Despite being a player short, the B team recorded a resounding victory over Donyatt B, picking up the maximum 12 points.
Rink scores: M Tarry, N Coleman, N Poore, D Marshall 23-14; E Poggiali, P Grant, R Burr 22-16; R Gadd, N Clarke, R Porter, B Adams 31-16.
The A team lost 10-2 at Banwell, with Tim Salter assisted by B Burr, J Murphy and A Whitehead winning their rink to ensure Street took something from the match.
Meanwhile, the A team were also beaten by Purnell in the National Top Club competition.
There were individual successes for Street, with Denise Marshall being awarded her county badge by Somerset Ladies president Mary Sutton.
The county competitions also got under way and several Street bowlers progressed to the next round.
Stuart and Tim Salter joined Brian Burr and Chris Frost in recording pairs victories, while R Williams, S Salter, N Kunc and T Salter had a good win in the fours, as did J Murphy, N Poore, J Solle and B Le Quesne.
In order to encourage local people to take up outdoor bowls, Street are offering free bowling for beginners for the rest of the season. Visitors are welcome at any time but the best time to attend is 6pm on Mondays.
