Daring jumps and stunts provided a taste of things to come for Weston-super-Mare.
The UK's best freestyle motocross riders starred in a free show in Pier Square, to whet the appetite for the high octane Red Bull Pro Nationals race and family festival on May 18 and 19.
Hundreds turned out in the sunshine at the weekend to see top riders Chris Birch, Dave Wiggins, Jamie Squibb, Dan Whitby and Arran Powley throw themselves – and their bikes – across a 60ft jump while performing aerial stunts.
The Red Bull Pro Nationals series tours the country over seven rounds.
The event on May 18 and 19 will be this year's second round and the race track will be sculpted out of the beach.
There will also be family festival activities, freestyle motocross, BMX and mountain bike trials demos and the opportunity for novices to try out motocross bikes during the weekend.
Matt Bates, managing director of series promoter e22 Sports, said: "I'm really excited to be bringing world-class action sports to Weston-super-Mare and combining the race series with family entertainment.
"It really is going to be a fantastic weekend for spectators of all ages to enjoy."
Felicity Baker, North Somerset Council's executive member for tourism and leisure, said: "I'm delighted we will be working with e22 Sports to stage this event, as it will give Weston and North Somerset even more exposure on a national and international basis.
"e22 Sports has a strong track record in the sport and this is yet another example of the commitment we have given to bring a wide variety of events to the area."
Admission is £10 for adults and £5 for children under 16 and pensioners, with family tickets at £20.
