A mini-digger worth £19,000 vanished from South Wales but turned up two days later hidden inside a shipping container in Cheddar.
The police's tactical crime unit hunted down the vanishing Kyboto digger via homing signal to a plot of land some 100 miles away.
Police also found a treasure trove of suspected stolen goods like two John Deere sit-on mowers and a quad bike. In total the haul is worth just under £30,000.
The bustcame during the Constabulary's Rogue Trader Day of Action.
No arrests have been made but a local man is helping the police with their enquiries.
Chief Inspector Paul Mogg said: "We work with several commercial companies including Tracker who fit their products to all sorts of vehicles, machinery and plant.
"It gives us the capability to locate and return property to the owners and identify those who have either stolen the items or been involved in handling or selling stolen goods.
"This was a significant job and we have seized some valuable property. Buying or passing on stolen goods is an offence and you risk being arrested for handling. If a deal seems too good to be true, then it normally is."
The tracking device in the digger was so powerful, it could be picked up by police cars and even force helicopters through the shipping container.
The digger was reported stolen on April 22 and found two days later.
