MATCH REPORT: Frome Town 1 Bedworth United 3 Frome Town were dragged back into the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division relegation battle with a 3-1 defeat at home to Bedworth United, who started the match one place off the bottom of the table. A poor-quality game seemed to be heading for a goalless draw after a dour first half, with the only meaningful chance going to the visitors when Mitchell Piggon hit the crossbar and Andrew Gooding's goalbound follow-up was headed away. There were few signs that the second half was going to offer more entertainment but the match sparked into life ten minutes in when Thomas Lorraine escaped the attentions of Dean Flockton and burst through on the Frome goal. Flockton's desperate challenge brought the visiting striker down in the box, earning a red card and a penalty, which was converted by Piggon. Dean Evans sent a powerful shot wide from 20 yards but Frome showed few signs of getting back into the game and were dealt a further blow when Mitchell Bryant was sent off for an alleged punch, which he vehemently denied. However, the nine Robins left on the pitch suddently burst into life and began to threaten the Bedworth goal. They pulled the scores level on 77 minutes when subsitute Luke Ballinger's looping volley beat the keeper and found the net. However, Bedworth were ahead again within a minute as Ashley Cain's cross from the left gave Lorraine a simple header home. That knocked the life out of Frome's brief revival and the visitors added a third goal two minutes from time when a poor pass in defence allowed Richard Wesley to set up substitute David Blenkinsopp to score.
