Yeovil Town missed out on the chance to close in on the play-off race as they were convincingly beaten 3-0 at AFC Bournemouth this afternoon.
The Glovers went behind in the 32nd minute when Lewis Grabban pounced on a loose ball and fired past goalkeeper Marek Stech.
Before that, the closest the visitors had come to creating an opener was through Jamie McAllister who twice caused panic in the Cherries area with a free kick and a 25-yarder.
The home side always appeared to be in control though, with Grabban a particular threat.
He dragged a good chance past Stech's post in the 35th minute, and had a penalty shout for a shirt tug turned down just before the break.
Bournemouth continued to dominate in the second half, with Yeovil's defence getting no time to relax thanks to Grabban and Brett Pitman.
Luke Ayling caught the Cherries unaware with 20 minutes to go, though, and very nearly scored an unlikely equaliser for the visitors, but saw his effort land on the roof of the net.
Bournemouth regrouped and doubled their lead three minutes later with a great strike from Harry Arter.
Pitman then got the goal his performance deserved with five minutes to go, from the penalty spot.
Ayling was ruled to have handled a Simon Francis cross, and Pitman beat Stech from 12 yards.
The victory made it 14 unbeaten in all competitions for Bournemouth, who go to within a point of the play-offs, while the Glovers remain six points off the pace.
A crowd of 8,016 saw the game, including 665 Yeovil Town fans.
