A man was taken to hospital after a milk tanker overturned and landed in a field near Frome on Christmas Day. Emergency services found the vehicle on its side in a field next to the B3092 at West Woodlands shortly after 8am following a collision that also involved a car. A man was trapped in the tanker, which has ruptured its tank in the crash and was leaking hundreds of gallons of milk into the field. Ambulance staff were joined at the scene by fire crews from Frome, Warminster and Wiltshire, who used small tools to remove a cab door and rescue the man from the overturned tanker. The casualty was then taken to hospital by ambulance, while firefighters made the car safe. The Environment Agency were also contacted over the volume of milk that had spilled into the field, but Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said cause for concern was minimal as the nearest main watercourse was a mile away from the crash site.
