A large scale air sea rescue effort was launched when emergency services were called out on the afternoon of Christmas Day to assist in a search for man who had been reported going into the water at Uphill.
The extensive search began at 1.45pm, and was carried out by a crew from RMB Chivenor, police, two lifeboats from Weston-super-Mare, Weston-super-Mare CRT and Burnham-on-Sea Coastguard but nothing was found.
Crews were stood down at around 4pm.
