Gary Johnson wants energy on and off the pitch to match his ambitions to progress Yeovil Town further. In almost a year since his return the manager believes he has transformed the Glovers from relegation fighters to a side capable of battling for a play-off spot. However, the former Bristol City boss said it was up to the rest of the club to pull in the same direction if they were to maintain what he hopes is a consistent upward spiral. "Over the past year I think we have probably won about 50 per cent of the games, if not a bit more," he said. "But winning 50 per cent of the games from where the club was is credit to everybody. Rome wasn't built in a day. "It has taken us a year to get the win ratio up. For us to be in the area semi-final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy is good and for us to be within seven points of the play-offs when the club in the past two or three years has been in the relegation zone is good. "We have now got to push. This club will either go a step forward and keep going or it will end up stepping back. One thing is a bit more success and a bit more atmosphere and the other is a bit less success and a bit less atmosphere. "Whilst I am here I want to see where I can take the club as I am still very ambitious for myself, Terry Skiverton, Darren Way, the chairman and the board of directors. I am ambitious for all of us and I want to see energy on and off the pitch." Johnson said continuing their run in the JPT would have a knock-on effect on npower League One form, describing reaching Wembley as the "pinnacle" of the season. However, he warned honesty and refusing to accept second best would be crucial in any success. Johnson said: "If we can still be competing near the play-off places come the last ten games of the season and if we can get ourselves to a Wembley final we will have done well. "As long as we put the roots in place now before we get there, that is when all of a sudden it all picks up and people realise what we have been trying to do all along. "I am going to push for that and if it doesn't come, it doesn't come. But if it does it will be well worth it and if I can help it along its way nice and early that is what I am going to do and I am going to be honest with everybody. "Sometimes people might say to me 'why aren't you enjoying the wins? Why have you brought that up about the pitch or that the players lack passion at times?' I'm bringing it up because it needs to be brought up because everybody wants it to get going and yet not everybody's trying to get it going. "Whoever you play now, we have got to an area semi-final in the JPT and we should have a bit of fun and enjoy them. The pinnacle is to try and get this club back to Wembley, whatever the trophy. It might just be the catalyst again to kick on for the next season. "I'm looking forward to the games. At the moment I can pick a team. I can't always pick a squad with mental commitment but if we can manage to get a team and add to it I think we can be close if we make the right decisions at the right times. "Now is the time to build. It will be too late in May. Now is the time to get it right and go and get the club back in the news."
