Somerset batsman Nick Compton has thrived on playing his part in England's success story in India.
Compton made his Test debut for England in the first match of the current series, scoring nine and 37 as India won by nine wickets in Ahmedabad.
Compton followed up with scores of 29 and 30 not out as England hit back with a ten-wicket win in the second Test in Mumbai – and he was also at the crease when victory was secured in the third Test in Kolkata last Sunday.
Captain Alastair Cook led the way in the first innings at Eden Gardens with 190, while Compton contributed 57 – his maiden Test fifty – to a team tally of 523 first time out.
After England's bowlers had done their work, the tourists had a victory target of 41. Cook and a couple of other top-order batsmen came and went, but Compton was unbeaten on nine when a seven-wicket win was sealed.
After the triumph in Kolkata, Compton said: "Two Test wins in India makes me one very happy bunny. I'm really glad that I could contribute towards it, and I can tell you everyone in the changing room was dead chuffed."
Referring to Sunday's final push for victory, Compton added: "My heart was going pretty hard when we lost a few wickets, and there were a few chirps coming from the close-in fielders.
"I'm glad I managed to see it through, and to again walk off having the 'Barmy Army' chanting your name is something I won't forget."
