Tickets have gone on sale for the 2013 Royal Bath and West Show.
The four-day show will celebrate its 150th anniversary next year when it takes place at Shepton Mallet from May 29 to June 1.
Founded by the Royal Bath and West of England Society, its first show took place in 1852 in Taunton and then toured the country for more than 100 years before a permanent home was found at Shepton Mallet in 1965.
Only world wars and an outbreak of foot and mouth have stopped the show going ahead and plans to mark the special anniversary are currently being drawn up.
Over the decades, thousands attended the shows each year to showcase livestock or agricultural developments and have a family day out.
"Those reasons for attending haven't changed," said show manager Alan Lyons, "as we have discovered in going through the records.
"We have found comments which tell how the society and the show have been responsible for improvements in the agricultural industry for centuries and seen photographs featuring changes in livestock.
"Our 150th anniversary gives us the opportunity to look back but also to look to the future as we continue to showcase the latest in technology used within the agriculture industry and elsewhere.
"There's plenty to see and to do for all ages during the Show and is a fantastic day out for all the family so why not give your loved ones a little bit of summer with tickets as a gift this Christmas?"
One of the plans is to stage an exhibition of memories, old records and photographs. Anyone with pre-war photographs or memories of the Show are invited to email them julie.kitching@bathandwest.co.uk.
Early-bird ticket prices are available until March 31, 2013, costing £17 per adult, £3 per child or £40 for a family of two adults and up to three children.
On-the-gate prices for the 2013 show will be £22 for adults, £7 for children and £55 for families.
