Two schools in Somerset remained closed today after being devastated by yesterday's flooding. The vast majority of schools and colleges were able to reopen as normal this morning, but Cossington Primary School near Bridgwater is expected to be closed for the rest of the week after its buildings were flooded yesterday morning. Chew Magna Primary School was also closed today after the area was particularly hard-hit by flooding. Several other schools in the county are planning to close at lunchtime today due to the Met Office's severe weather warning in place for this afternoon. Winsham Primary School, Chew Stoke Church Primary School and Pensford Primary School are all closing by 12.15pm to allow staff and pupils to get home safely before the next wave of torrential rain hits the county. Somerset County Council, North Somerset Council and Bath and North East Somerset Council provide up-to-the-minute notices about emergency school closures or restricted openings on their school information pages.
