Former loanee Jaime Peters could be in line for a permanent return to Yeovil Town after manager Gary Johnson revealed he was "scouring the world" for unattached players.
The Glovers' boss has until the end of tomorrow to complete temporary swoops for targets, but is able to sign free agents at any stage providing they have not had a deal with a club already this season.
Right back or winger Peters has been training with Yeovil of late following his release from Ipswich Town in August. Any move for the diminutive Canadian who enjoyed a 14-game spell at Huish Park in 2008 would hinge on resolving a work permit issue.
Johnson said Peters, 25, had been joined in training by a Dutch player as he and his management staff continue to contemplate whether they need a sixth loanee following the early return of Daniel Johnson to Aston Villa.
He said: "We have got five loans at the moment. We are scouring the world because you can get people in after November 22 as long as they haven't been in contract in the windows so we will use that as and when.
"We have a lad in from Holland and he could be decent. We have got Jaime Peters training with us but he has got to renew a work permit and things like that. That's not a loan either so we could strengthen the squad with people like that.
"We have just got to discuss if we bring in a sixth loan but it has got to be the right type of loan that will not mind not playing just yet because in the next two games those five will probably play. We have got to be clever with it but we mustn't leave ourselves short."
Johnson added that Peters was lacking match fitness but added that there was no urgency to bring him up to speed.
"He is still working out whether his residence permit is still in play because he hasn't got a club and hasn't had a job since Ipswich," said Johnson.
"He isn't quite fit enough yet but he has looked not bad to come in. He is still quick, his backside is a little bigger and his belly is a bit bigger but we can get that sorted pretty quickly. We can wait a little while if necessary."
The Glovers enter Saturday's home clash with Carlisle United on the back of a 1-0 defeat of Crawley Town, David Hunt's last gasp own goal earning the points. Despite having time to add to his squad, Johnson said he was pleased with the loanees currently at his disposal.
He said: "We have got enough. I have learnt from one of the loans that I have sent back that you have got to know what you have got coming in. We are passionate here and people have got to want to play for Yeovil Town.
"We have worked very hard since pre-season so we have got to make sure we bring the right characters in and sometimes you don't know that until you have them here.
"But the five that were out there on Tuesday are ours, they are Yeovil Town, we have Yeovilified them and it is so good to get that situation. If you have got five lads whose parent club isn't ours and they gave that sort of performance it means you have got some good characters."
Johnson also suggested that injured duo Lewis Young (ankle) and Nathan Ralph (knee) could return before their original New Year target.
He said: "We have got to make sure that come Christmas time that we try and get Lewis Young and Nathan Ralph fit. They are still a little bit away but I have given them a deadline of December 22 to be ready and I said heads will roll so I have scared a few in the medical department if they are not back. We will keep trying to get them back."
