Motorists considering driving through flooded roads in Somerset this morning have been told not to risk it by firefighters. Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service has been called out to deal with more than 30 flooding-related incidents this morning. Several drivers have already had to be rescued from their cars by fire crews after becoming stranded in flood water on the A39 near Williton. That road is now closed, along with several other roads in the county. Many more are partially blocked after a night of torrential rain. The fire service said crews were also dealing with major flooding incidents in Ilminster, Wellington, Highbridge, Martock and Williton. "The fire service advises the public not to drive through floodwater and to seek an alternative route and consider whether the journey is necessary," said a spokesman.
