Yeovil was facing the possible loss of nearly 40 jobs this week.
The future of 22 workers at electrical retailer Comet on the Houndstone Retail Park was thrown into question after the chain entered administration.
Administrators Deloitte said on Monday all Comet stores would continue to trade and all employees would continue to be paid while a buyer is sought.
The news came as Taunton Aerospace Ltd revealed 15 employees would be leaving their jobs this month as work is transferred away from a Yeovil engineering site.
Taunton Aerospace acquired Ashleys of Yeovil for an undisclosed fee in July. All employees were automatically transferred to the new company but were told they would have to relocate to Taunton or Verwood in Dorset.
This week, Gary Francis, managing director of Taunton Aerospace, said that none of the employees in Yeovil had opted for relocation.
Ashleys had been operating in Yeovil since 1926.
But there was some positive news in Yeovil this week as it emerged that a long-awaited new KFC restaurant is expected to open by the end of the month, providing work for 40 people. The company was unable to confirm the exact opening date.
Jason Livingstone, of Yeovil Chamber of Trade and Commerce, said: "It is sad to see a long-standing company such as Ashleys leave the town. KFC will bring jobs, but they are a service industry, not a manufacturer so it is not like-for-like replacement."
