WE are very proud to announce our very first pet of the week as Lola the hamster.
Lola belongs to Jade Weston and is her first ever pet.
Jade said: "This is my first ever pet Lola, she is a Syrian hamster and will be two years old in October.
"She's also known as a Guinea-ham as she is so big.
"My boyfriend Chris got her for me as a Christmas present and she is spoilt rotten.
"Her favourite foods are raw broccoli, apples and special dried corn on the cob.
"She recently went through surgery because her tooth had overgrown, curled round and grown out of her face. She's been very brave and livelier than ever.
"She's my little bundle of joy and loves coming out in her ball, she could run around for hours, she especially enjoys running into my cats and scaring them.
"She sleeps all day in her cage in my room and is awake all night stuffing her bed and gnawing at her corn. As soon as we turn the light off she starts running on her wheel, then as soon as you turn the light on she stops rigid."
Well done to Jade and Lola, the first recipients of the prize of treats from sponsors Not Just Pets, in the Kingsway Precinct, Frome.
