WHOEVER sent a bizarre Freedom of Information act request to Avon and Somerset Police was disappointed this week.
The request was made through the police website and asked for the following information: "Are there more Polish people than badgers in Shepton Mallet."
A police spokesman said that as the request was made through official channels and in the correct format police were obliged to respond to it.
They added: "We do not hold information about the number of badgers in Shepton Mallet. Neither do we hold information about the number of Polish people in Shepton Mallet, so we could not answer the query."
It is not clear why the request was made, or why the person making the request had such difficulty telling the difference between badgers and human beings.
The answer is clearly not black or white.
