THE operator of a pub near Langport has put the site up for sale.
British Country Inns is seeking buyers for the Old Barn Owl in Westport.
The company has said that although the pub is trading well it is disposing of the site to free up capital and focus on its more profitable pubs.
The operator, which has 24 pubs, is selling seven of its smaller sites in the South West, Wales and East Anglia.
A guide price of £360,000 has been released for the Old Barn Owl.
Tim Udell, spokesman for British Country Inns, said: "Trading well in their rural locations, I'm certain these freehold pubs will generate significant interest.
"This may be from either national or regional pub companies looking to expand their portfolios or from entrepreneurs looking to take their first steps into the freehold pub sector.
"The freehold sector is proving ever more popular, with the numbers of freehold pubs rapidly catching their counterparts in the managed house sector.
"Their popularity is also evidenced by the increasing prices achieved for sales in this sector over the last 12 months."
The disposal of the pubs is being handled in a joint partnership by agents Christie and Co, Gully Howard, Fleurets and Sidney Phillips.
The George Inn, in Ilminster, is also up for sale for a guide price of £425,000.
Mr Udell added: "We're delighted to be working with highly respected agents on this instruction."
