The public toilets in Somerton were described as "less than pleasant" at a recent meeting of the town council.
The issues raised during the public comments session also included a complaint that the public toilets in the Unicorn Car Park in Somerton were found to be closed when they should have been open.
Ian Neale, who is a Somerton town councillor, said: "I was concerned about the standard of cleanliness, which is really up to the council to sort out.
"I have heard a few complaints from members of the public, saying the toilets were less than pleasant."
He added: "The toilets have set opening times and I am aware of an occasion when were not adhered to.
"I plan to pop down there again to check up on the situation."
A spokesman for the town council said: "We have not been made aware of any incidences of the toilets closing early except for the one comment made by Ian Neale during the public comments section of the town council meeting.
"If people have complaints they need to come straight to the office, give specific examples such as days and times so we can get any the issues sorted out.
"In terms of the cleanliness of the toilets we are working with the contractors to make sure that good standards are met at all times."
