SHEPTON Mallet's beloved lido open-air swimming pool is enjoying one of its very best starts to a season.
Warm weather, with almost constant sunshine, has brought out the crowds at Shaftgate Avenue.
Last weekend would-be swimmers queued to get into the lido with numbers so high that they had to wait for others to leave the facility before they could get entry.
A spokesman for Avalon Leisure, which runs the pool, said it has been an exceptional start to the season and that he hoped as many people as possible would take the opportunity to use the pool, which is open every day until September 8.
