Rescue teams were called to a house in Bridgwater last night after a wood pigeon became trapped on a television aerial.
Firefighters from the town were called to a property in Chilton Street shortly before 8.45pm to assist the RSPCA in rescuing the stranded bird.
The road was closed while the emergency services carried out the rescue, which was made difficult due to the position of the aerial.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said crews used a hydraulic platform to reach the pigeon before handing it over to the care of the RSPCA.
