Frome 1st XI 267-6 Westlands 1st XI 174 (Frome won by 93 runs)
Frome 1st XI made it two wins from three in the Somerset Division of the West of England Premier League by comprehensively beating rivals Westlands in Yeovil.
After winning the toss and electing to bat on what appeared to be a good surface, Frome suffered an early setback when Leonard was caught at midwicket in the first over.
However, Frome then set the platform for what proved to be a match-winning total. Stonell and Bleakley saw off the new ball calmly while scoring runs when given the opportunity.
The score reached 26 by the tenth over and Bleakley pushed the run-rate up to take Frome to 67-1 from the first 20 overs.
With the early Westlands aggression now somewhat subdued, the Frome pair put pressure on the fielding side with strong running between the wickets. Bleakley passed 50 and the partnership reached 135 before Stonell departed, bowled for an excellent 39.
Smith joined Bleakley and immediately began to time the ball to the boundary. Bleakley was taking the bowling to task but was denied a maiden 1st XI hundred when he was caught at long on for a superb 89.
Smith was joined by Dan Dredge, who rotated the strike well and found the odd big boundary. Together they took Frome to 229 before Smith holed out two short of a half-century and Dredge was out in similar fashion for 43, but the total of 267-6 still left the visitors in the driving seat.
In reply, the home side knew they had to take chances and they smashed any delivery lacking in line or length to the boundary.
The score raced to 42 after six overs, with Kieran Boucher looking dangerous before Asim dismissed him for 21 in his first over. Westlands progressed in similar fashion to 62 until Gundry was caught at long on by Stonell off Craig Dredge.
The score passed 100 in the 22nd over with no further wickets down, with the spin of Mark Sanger and Hamblin just about keeping Westlands in check.
Frome made a breakthrough when Sanger trapped Hallam lbw for 17 but another decent partnership developed as Harry Boucher and Davis (58) worked the ball around sensibly.
With the score at 150-3 after 31 overs, Westlands looked well set to have a go at chasing down Frome's total but the game was over within seven overs.
Sanger bowled Boucher (15) and Hamblin removed Reeves (5), while two further wickets for Sanger (4-41) saw Bond and Murphy dismissed without scoring.
It was left to Wheeler to pick up the final three wickets to give Frome a well-deserved victory.
On Saturday, Frome host Wembdon (1pm).
Curry Rivel 1st XI 213-8 Frome 2nd XI 53 (Curry won by 160 runs)
Frome 2nd XI's dismal home form continued on Saturday when they were totally outplayed by visiting Curry Rivel.
Having won the toss and elected to bat, Curry's opening partnership of Tilley and Wilkes started watchfully before the latter fell for six.
Steady batting by Davey- Smith (48) pushed the score along, while skipper Higginson struck an unbeaten 75 as the visitors finished on 213-8 from their 45 overs.
Skipper Josh Cantrell finished with figures of 4-46 but Frome could have restricted their opponents to a lower total had they held onto their catches.
Frome's reply got off to a slow start, with only eight runs coming off the first seven overs before Cantrell was caught behind off Wilkes, who went on to take five wickets.
Larder tried to push the scoring along but was caught for 11 as Frome fell away dramatically, with only Copp (9no) offering any resistance as the innings was wrapped up for 53.
The match ball was sponsored by Mr & Mrs A Hillman.
On Saturday, Frome 2nd XI travel to Fitzhead.
Bristol Bangladeshis 159 Frome 3rd XI 163-4 (Frome won by six wickets)
Despite playing with ten men, Frome 3rd XI continued their unbeaten start to the season away to Bristol Bangladeshis.
After losing the toss and being asked to field, Frome looked to take early wickets and build the pressure. Good opening spells from Singh and Watts got Frome off to a promising start, with Singh picking up two early wickets.
Frome continued to pick up regular wickets thanks to a great spell from Asim, which saw him pick up four scalps. Captain Sanger picked up three as the hosts were dismissed for 159.
In reply, Frome got off to a bad start and found themselves 27-3 off eight overs, with leading run scorer Bleakley dismissed for four.
That brought Sanger and Ali to the crease and they looked to rebuild the innings. A slow but steady partnership of 81 finally came to an end when Ali was caught one short of a deserved half-century.
Singh joined Sanger needing a run a ball off the last ten overs. Singh took the attack to the bowlers and left Frome requiring three to win off the last over.
A two and a four from Sanger ended the game with four balls to spare, with Singh finishing on 31 and Sanger 46.
The 3rd XI travel away to Whitchurch on Sunday.
