Robin-Mark Schols leads Frome Running Club home at time trial

Another packed week saw Frome Running Club members in action at events across the West Country.

Robin-Mark Schols led 15 runners home in the club's monthly 5k time trial in 19mins 28secs.

Also taking part were Lee Stone (19:37), Hayden Coate (19:41), Pete Berryman (21:43), Jo Kirk (23:21), Nick Cooper (26:17), Simon Webb (26:30), Emma Evans (26:39), Sarah Barry (26:40), Graham Farley (27:08), Rory Watts (28:04), Sarah Elliott (28:19), Sue Heath (28:36), Barb Coate (28:40) and Lucy Shapcott 30:21.

The weekly 5k Parkrun at Southwick saw Benjamin Barrell (SM, 20:16) and Amy Gates (VF40, 25:35) both record personal bests.

Tom Stokes (MV50) completed the Neolithic Marathon from Avebury to Salisbury in 3hrs 53:06.

Gary Eagles (MV50) was the first Frome runner home at the Bristol 10k in a speedy 36:52. Also running were Richard Riley (MV50, 46:53), Lynette Grimstead (FV40, 1:01:31) and Claire Murphy (SF, 1:01:53).

Frome ladies took second prize in the team competition at the Glastonbury 10k on the same day. Representing the club were Pete Grist (SM, 35:19), Jo Fordham (FV40, 46:58), Sarah Wallace (SF, 47:26), Frances Hunter (SF, 48:41), Carolyn Nicholls (FV35, 53:16) and Graham Farley (MV40, 56:48 PB).

Frome had two men's and three ladies' teams in action at the North Dorset Village Relay and Marathon, which both started at Sturminster Newton High School.

Lee Stone, Ali Smith, Chris Stringer and Jim Plunkett-Cole were the first Frome team home in a total time of 3:04:50.

Just a couple of minutes behind in 3:06:15 were Team Taylor, consisting of Martin Taylor with sons Henry, Arthur and George.

Frome Ladies Team 3, comprising of Lynne Grossett, Helen Corbett, Jo Riley and Jacqui Betts, clocked 3:47:18 and Team 1 – featuring Sara Elliot, Sue Heath and Lucy Gaffney, who ran the last two legs – came home in 4:21:23.

Anne Porter, Nicola Player, Dawn Prior and Kate Wareham were in Team 2, whose time was 4:22:02.

Marcus Gaffney (MV45) went it alone in the marathon, clocking a time of 4:21:23.
