Police have said a blaze that engulfed a truck at West Pennard last Wednesday night, May 8,was set deliberately.

Now they are calling on members of the public who travelled along the busy A381 after 8pm on May 8 to help trace who may have been responsible for the vandalism.

The truck was parked on a verge near the Apple Tree Inn and was used to advertise a local welding business.

Angela Whittleton, a spokeswoman for Castle Welding, said: "This was done by yobs who really have no idea how much trouble their acts can cause small businesses like ours.

"It is going to take considerable time and money to put this right."

If you saw who was responsible, call Shepton Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

You do not have to give your name, and you may get a reward.
