Marcus Trescothick admitted "those are the days you dream of" as a batsman, after he and Pete Trego blasted Somerset to a remarkable YB40 victory over Unicorns at Taunton.
Somerset served up 93 balls of intense, attacking cricket as they wrapped up their first competitive victory of the season with a staggering 147 balls and eight wickets to spare.
"It's great fun – those are the days you dream of, where you've got a licence to go, you've got a short boundary and a good pitch, and you're seeing the ball OK," said Trescothick.
"That's when you really just let yourself go and enjoy yourself. These sort of days don't come around all that often, so you've got to enjoy them when you can – and we did today. We were very dominant when we batted.
"We needed a one-day game just to get us rolling more than anything else. We've been close in a couple of four-day games to getting a victory but haven't quite got it.
"We needed to have that victory just to get up there, sing the team song and get that winning feeling, which everyone says becomes a habit."
After two draws and one defeat in the LV= County Championship, Somerset needed any kind of victory to get their season going – but they surely could not have imagined they would get off the mark in such ruthless fashion.
