A Frome brother and sister will take part in a mammoth cycle challenge later this month to raise funds in memory of their mother. Rachel Clark and her brother, Matthew, will cycle more than 200 miles from Frome to Land's End in 24 hours to raise funds for Frome-based charity Positive Action on Cancer and hope to raise £1,000. They will be taking part in memory of their mother, former teacher, Shirley Wiggins, who passed away in 2011. The siblings will be part of a team of six on Wednesday, May 29, the anniversary of her death. Miss Clark said: "We hope to raise at least £1,000 for PAC in memory of Mum. "We're just over the £700 mark at the moment and with several weeks to go, we are confident about hitting our target." Training has been under way for several months and Miss Clark said she thinks the challenge will a hard one, with the time limit. She said: "We think it will be very hard given the time we've given ourselves to do more than 200 miles and of course we may be faced with inclement weather given the state of mother nature at the moment." The team, which includes Adam Morris, Ed Charlton, Steven Pearce and Stephen Lloyd Hibbard, will be leaving Frome police station at 9am on the day and plan to be at Land's End at dawn the following day. Miss Clark added: "The team is mixed in terms of cycling experience but we're all dedicated to the cause and have all the kit ready to go."
