Gandalf the wizard has been forced to undergo emergency treatment after having his head kicked in, in Glastonbury.
The wizard, who had been cemented in place outside a home in Chilkwell Street, was attacked by vandals last Saturday.
"He's been in place for about four years now, and had become something of a local landmark," said David Walker, who owns him.
"If I had a pound for every person who walked past him and took a photograph, I wouldn't need to work. But for some reason, last Saturday night someone took a dislike to him and decided to kick his head in."
While JRR Tolkien's legendary wizard was powerful enough to survive a tussle with a Balrog and take on Saruman in the Lord of the Rings, Glastonbury's version was not quite so tough, and was broken in half in the attack.
His owners discovered his broken body on their doorstep the following morning.
They have since managed to get him repaired, and are looking to give him a coat of paint to help get him over his ordeal.
"It was just mindless vandalism," said Mr Walker. "We weren't the only house hit, either - there's a small gallery up the road a little, and they smashed all the pots they had outside."
If you know who was responsible for breaking Gandalf, call Street Police Station on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
