Frome Town rounded off their season with another superb performance as they held play-off chasing hosts Barwell to a 1-1 draw.
With a whole host of regulars missing – including Matt Cowler, Tom Evans, Josh Brigham, Darren Chitty, Mitchell Bryant, Ed Quelch and Lloyd Chamberlain - the Robins had to field striker Luke Ballinger in goal.
Barwell needed to win to ensure a top-five finish in Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division but a resilient Frome side kept them at bay.
As frustrations started to boil, Frome broke clear for Matt Smith to open the scoring on 80 minutes with a 35-yard lob into an empty net following a poor headed clearance from the home keeper.
Barwell were reduced to ten men when a defender brought down Jed Harper-Penman, who had an excellent game for the Robins.
As the visitors looked like hanging on for an amazing three points, Barwell grabbed a last-minute leveller through Newton but had to settle for a seventh-place finish as Gosport Borough grabbed the final play-off berth.
