Gary Johnson: Yeovil Town must not repeat Bury first half in play-offs

Yeovil Town manager Gary Johnson has warned his players that they cannot afford a repeat of the first half against Bury in the play-offs. An abject first 45 minutes was punished with the Shakers' first three-goal haul of the season. James Hayter and Kevin Dawson led the Glovers' fight back after the break but the relegated hosts held on for victory in npower League One. Johnson's men will now face Sheffield United in the play-off first leg at Bramall Lane on Friday before returning to Huish Park on Monday. The boss said: "You have got to try and go into the play-off games seeing your game. Our game with these players has got us to where we are now and we didn't recognise our game in that first half. "We wanted to let people know that they were playing as individuals, as opposed to a proper team. They had lost all thought of what we were trying to achieve in our game, but to be fair to them they went out in the second half and they were relentless. "We should have drawn, we had two great chances when Richard Hinds had a header and Lewis Young had the shot that the keeper just saved. "We had a couple of others, as did they, so maybe it should have been 8-8 at the end. It was a really poor first half, we won't forget that and you cannot afford a half like that in the play-offs. "Maybe it gave us a chance to get into them so we don't go into the play-offs complacent." Johnson added that a trip to South Yorkshire for the first leg suited his team and said: "I was getting the results through all the time and one minute we were playing Swindon at home first. "The next we were playing Sheffield United away first, which was where we wanted to be, we wanted to be away first. "We didn't really mind which one we got. I've had that feeling we'd get Sheffield United all along and we've been looking at places so we can prepare correctly on the way up."
