Weston-super-Mare target six points from final two games

Weston-super-Mare boss Craig Laird is urging his players to adopt a single-minded approach to the final two games of the Blue Square South season. One place and a point outside of the play-off positions, the Seagulls must beat lowly Billericay at the Woodspring Stadium tomorrow, take three points from their final fixture at Dorchester and hope results elsewhere go their way. Laird insists there is no point in wasting time analysing Weston's rivals and he, for one, has given up looking at the league table or the fixture list. He told The Post: "There is no point us worrying about the things we cannot affect. What will happen elsewhere will happen anyway. "But there are still two games to go and those are the things we can affect. "I've told the players it is all about taking maximum points and keeping up the pressure on the teams above us." Weston's fate was taken out of their own hands by last Saturday's 4-1 defeat at champions Welling, but Laird said: "We are still in a positive frame of mind and looking forward to the challenge of the last two games. "If someone had offered me the chance of being in this position at the start of the season, of course I would have taken it." Nabbi Diablo is still suspended, but striker Kane MacClaggan is expected to feature after recovering from a tight hamstring.
