84-year-old Malcolm appeals for the return of his old rusty pram

An octogenarian smallholder is appealing for help in getting back the rusty old pram he uses to collect firewood. Malcolm Butcher keeps chickens, ducks and a turkey on land near his home at Stoke St Michael. The 84-year-old can often be seen in his home village collecting up bits of wood for his fire with his old trolley-like pram. The contraption is a small crate on an old-style pram frame, which he uses to carry back any fallen wood to his Bridge House home. But last weekend as he and his wife were collecting some logs to see them through the rest of the winter, his pram was stolen. Now he is pinning his hopes on someone kind-hearted enough to bring it back. "We collect a bit of wood for the fire and on Sunday morning we went to Becktor Lane and left our old pram on the side of the road," he explained. "We went into the little wood only a few yards away. "We were gone about half-an-hour, but when we came back our old pram was gone." Mr Butcher was pictured with his pram only a few weeks ago and he hopes that the picture may help to jog someone's memory.
