A 22-year-old Midsomer Norton man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft after an incident involving a stolen car that was found burned out in the town on Monday (April 14).
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said the force received four calls at around 10.15am about a burgundy BMW being driven erratically close to the Old Mills Tesco. These were followed by reports from concerned residents who had found a car on fire in Withies Park.
Dozens of police were seen hunting for the man throughout the day before his arrest at around 3pm.
The police spokesman said the car had been stolen 25 miles away in Highbridge.
The man has been released on police bail.
