Fire crews rushed to a car at the Terry Hill crossroads junction with the A362 and the A366 between Radstock and Frome at around 8.45am this morning.
The severely damaged car was extinguished by fire crews using breathing apparatus wearer and a hose reel jet.
Police have now cleared debris from the highway. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
One fire appliance from Radstock and one fire appliance from Paulton attended.
