Wells City Council and Somerset County Council have joined forces to purchase new equipment which will help maintain the city's grassed areas, verges and paths.
The equipment was obtained after John Osman, the county councillor for Wells, submitted a bid to the county council for funding from their Community Enablement Fund.
John Osman last week presented a new lawnmower to the city council which was purchased by the grant funding.
Further maintenance equipment has been purchased to allow for the maintenance of hedge rows and paths in the city.
"I am very pleased that the city and county councils are working together in partnership to maintain our beautiful city. In the past, services have been provided separately by the two councils, it makes good sense for one council to provide these services to our city," said Mr Osman.
The city council have agreed to take over maintenance of grassed areas and verges on behalf of the county council for five years.
