Jenson Button hopes he can "reboot" his world championship challenge at the Chinese Grand Prix.
McLaren head to Shanghai looking to recover from a poor start to the 2013 season in Australia and Malaysia.
Button, the 2009 world champion, and team-mate Sergio Perez have just two points to their names after the first two races at Melbourne and Sepang.
McLaren have struggled to get to grips with the MP4-28 after taking an aggressive approach to the design of the new car, but plan to introduce a series of upgrades in China.
The Woking-based team, who finished 2012 so strongly, appear to be some way adrift of the front-running pace of Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes and Lotus.
But 33-year-old Button, who won in Shanghai in 2010, sees the third round of the championship as the ideal place to turn around the slow start to the campaign.
"In a funny way, the Chinese Grand Prix almost feels like something of a reboot of the start of my season," he said.
"We know where we're losing performance, so I think we're actually all looking forward to seeing just what we can achieve in Shanghai.
"I definitely think there's everything to play for with this championship, and I can't wait to get back into the cockpit to start the fight again."
