Almost 70 couples due to get married at a venue near Keynsham have been left in the lurch after the announcement that the events company based there has been kicked out.
Emily Tanner and Luke Walker, of Radstock, suddenly found themselves having to find a new wedding reception venue with just two weeks to go before their big day.
They had paid around £7,000 to hold their celebrations at Chewton Place, a venue with a chequered history which closed briefly back in December 2011 before opening under new management a few months later.
The events company based there, Bozeat Palmer Contracts, sent an e-mail to all its clients at the end of last week informing them that their weddings had been cancelled with immediate effect.
Miss Tanner, a 23-year-old healthcare assistant at CircleBath hospital, Peasedown St John, said she had spent the Easter weekend in floods of tears as she tried to rearrange what was supposed to be the most exciting day of her life at the last minute.
She said: "I just felt sick when I found out. I have not stopped crying all weekend.
"I was supposed to be enjoying these last two weeks, but now I just don't trust anyone. I feel like I am going to get let down again."
Luckily Miss Tanner and her 27-year-old fiancé, who works in the rhino enclosure at Longleat Safari Park, have got all their money back from Chewton Place and have also managed to rebook their reception at Priston Mill for the same date.
However, another couple are now facing the possibility that their long-awaited wedding will not go ahead at all.
Candy Hollyman and Stephen Trott, of Keynsham, have now had their wedding cancelled for the second time, having also been hit by the initial Chewton Place closure more than a year ago.
The pair, who have two young children and have been together for ten years, are now not sure if they can go through the stress of reorganising their big day once again.
