James Hayter is more than happy for strike partner Paddy Madden to keep stealing the plaudits providing their efforts continue to fire Yeovil Town towards promotion. Madden's 19 goals in green and white since heading south from Carlisle United in the autumn have helped the Glovers mount a realistic npower League One play-off bid. But whilst the Irishman's goal-scoring exploits have captured headlines, Hayter has become one of Yeovil's unsung heroes, helping create a large share of Madden's strikes with tireless work off the ball. The 33-year-old former AFC Bournemouth favourite said: "I have always been a team player and I am happy for Paddy to get the headlines. He has done brilliantly since he has come in and the amount of goals he has scored in the short period has been nothing short of phenomenal. "I am happy for him to get the headlines, I am just pleased that we have been winning games. We had a little falter of late and although we have only lost two we have drawn two and we need to turn those into victories. "He came in straight away, worked hard and works for the team as well. He is a good player and I like to think we work well together. "Good players find it easy to work well together if you are working for the team and each other. If you are creating chances for each other it is always going to make it easier, hopefully that can continue and I would like to think we work well as a pair. "Paddy has got his pace and stays a bit longer, and I can drop in a bit so I think we work well together." Isle of Wight-born Hayter sprung to prominence at Cherries with more than 100 goals in almost 400 appearances, having signed as a trainee in 1996. A £200,000 bid tempted him away to Doncaster Rovers, where he netted the winner in a play-off final against Leeds United to earn promotion to the Championship - a goal that saw him presented with a commemorative plaque on his return to the club with Yeovil last month. After cementing himself in the club's history books, Hayter endured a tricky final season at the Keepmoat Stadium and opted to return closer to his roots in the summer. "It's been good being nearer the family," he said. "The missus is nearer her family as well so it's good for her and she is happier. First and foremost it has been good that way and it has gone well on the pitch as well, so it has gone well in both areas. We have won a lot of games over the past few months so it is all good." Hayter added it was peculiar not having a game last Saturday, particularly at a time when fixtures schedules are already bursting at the seams. "It was a strange one not having a game on Saturday," he said. "Last season we were playing catch up all throughout March and April, playing Saturday-Tuesday every week. We used the time wisely by training hard for the Swindon game which was obviously a massive one for us. "We are going into every game looking to win. It was a massive clash going into it on the back of a couple of draws. We were probably unlucky at Hartlepool and then cruising at 2-0 against Crawley. "But we put in a second half performance that was very disappointing against Crawley and were fortunate not to lose. "We have got to pick that up and turn it around. Our home form has been brilliant of late and we have got to look to keep that going."
