MATCH REPORT: Street Reserves 1 Minehead 3
Street Reserves were handed their second defeat in the space of five days by promotion-chasing Minehead.
The midweek home setback followed the previous Saturday's Errea Somerset League Premier Division loss to the same side, with a much-changed Street side going down to two second-half goals.
With five different players in their line-up, Street looked sluggish to start with and a lapse at the back allowed Aaron Deeks to score from close range.
Within 90 seconds the home side were almost punished again as Deeks was allowed to run unchallenged before unleashing a right-foot shot that beat keeper Matt Haines before rebounding back into play off the base of a post.
Minehead were running the show but should have been reduced to ten men on 20 minutes when Mike Mullen cynically flattened Rob Ashdown on the byline. However, referee Butham failed to even issue a yellow card.
Street continued to struggle against the pace of Luke Webber but began to create chances of their own and Tom Hill missed a golden opportunity to equalise from Ashdown's superb right-wing cross.
They were awarded a penalty before the break after Gavin Seaward's run into the Minehead area was halted by a foul from Paul Smyth. James Bisgrove dispatched the spot-kick to send the sides in level.
Minehead regained the lead on the hour when a long goal-kick from Kyran Williams was latched on to by Guy Burns, who nipped in between Lee Smith and Craig Matthews to score.
The visitors had regained the initiative and were gifted a third goal on 81 minutes when a deep free-kick into the Street box was headed powerfully into the roof of his own net by Rob Hill.
