A horse had to be sedated so it could be rescued from a ditch full of water near Burnham-on-Sea this morning.
The animals owner called the emergency services after it became stuck in the ditch along Red Road, Berrow, shortly after 9am today.
A fire crew from Burnham-on-Sea was joined at the scene by a special rescue team from Bridgwater.
Crews said the horse was trapped in around four feet of water, and that the owner had requested a vet to sedate the animal.
Once the horse was sedated, rescuers cut part of the ditch's bank away before using strops, lines and a Land Rover to winch the horse to safety.
