A farming couple is challenging the authority because it doesn't like the colour of their wind turbine. David and Penny Denbee have appealed to the Planning Inspectorate because Sedgemoor District Council expected a grey turbine to be built at Pear Tree Farm in Stoughton Cross, near Wedmore. However, the 50kW wind generator is actually white. The council refused a bid to amend the colour condition and now an appeal has been lodged. The Denbees have also complained to the Planning Inspectorate that Sedgemoor has also refused to change another condition about noise. The condition states noise from the 33m tall turbine should not be heard in neighbouring properties. However, the occupiers of The Old Byre told the council it was audible in the garden. Planning applications registered by Sedgemoor between February 21 and 27: Mr and Mrs Pople wants to renew planning permission to replace a garage with two homes at Orion Garage, Upper New Road, Cheddar. Mr C Jennings wishes to build a home on land southeast of Fernwood, The Barrows, Cheddar. Mr and Mrs J Crawford would like to replace a garage and extension with a part two-storey, part single-storey extension and change the use of land from agriculture to form a parking area at Over Compton, Vicarage Lane, Compton Bishop. Mr and Mrs Rowlands seek permission to replace extensions with a two-storey extension to the rear and another to the side at Ashtrees, The Causeway, Mark. GH Lunn and Sons want to renew planning permission to build an extension to form a shop, store and customer toilets with extra parking at New Road Garage, Turnpike Road, Lower Weare. Velocity Trading 1845 Ltd wants a certificate of lawfulness to establish if the proposed visitors' building can be lawfully built at Blakeway Farm Lakes, Blakeway Farm, Blakeway, Wedmore. Mr N Watkins wish to build a detached garage at Maltfield House, Mudgley Road, Wedmore. Planning decisions made by Sedgemoor: Mr R Bigwood may convert a store/maintenance building into a caravan site reception, office and warden's residential accommodation on land at Westbrook Farm, Harp Road, Brent Knoll. Mr P Hacker can renew planning permission on land north of 24 Annaly Road, Cheddar. Somerlap Forest Products Ltd has permission to demolish a structure over the wood chip bay and build a larger structure to form a new chip bay and to cover plant machinery at Somerlap Forest Products Ltd, Blackford Road, Mark. Mr R Evans may build a first floor extension above the attached double garage at Pinebeck, Rowberrow Bottom, Rowberrow. Mrs K Redford is allowed to convert a loft into living accommodation including the installation of two dormer windows, remove render, reinstate half timbering and install a window in the front gable, install windows in the south side, put a first floor extension to the rear and roof lights in the north side at The Lodge, Barton Road, Webbington. No planning matters relating to Draycott or Rodney Stoke from Mendip District Council this week.
