The son of the head lad at Paul Nicholls' racing stable at Ditcheat has been killed in a car crash in Somerset.
Dominic Baker, the 21-year-old son of head lad Clifford Baker died in a road accident on Thursday night.
Champion race horse trainer Mr Nicholls has said everyone at the stable is devastated.
Dominic Baker was killed when his car was involved in a single vehicle crash at Bratton Seymour between Wincaton and Castle Cary.
He was travelling home to Ditcheat when the car he was driving left the A371 and struck a tree.
Avon and Somerset Police have launched an appeal for witnesses to the crash that occurred at around 10.35pm.
Speaking to the Racing Post, Clifford Baker said: "Along with my wife Sarah, my daughter Danielle, and our daughter Charlotte, we are absolutely devastated by what has happened. Dominic was the most genuine lad that you could possibly wish to meet. He'll live on in all our thoughts, and never a day will go by when we don't think of him."
Mr Nicholls told the Racing Post: "Clifford's family and everybody here is just devastated. We all knew Dominic, he grew up with my kids, and it is just impossible to find words to explain how we feel. It is so sad."
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the collision investigation unit of Avon and Somerset Police on 101.
