A Glastonbury woman has been left housebound after her mobility scooter was stolen from a bus stop in the town's High Street. The woman – who has asked us not to identify her – had been attending a funeral in London, and unable to take her scooter with her on the bus, had left it at the bus stop for a friend to collect later. But when he arrived to pick it up, it had gone. "We went around all the shops at the top of the High Street and then we went to the police to see if someone had handed it in, and reluctantly came to the conclusion that it had been stolen." Without her mobility scooter, the woman has been left house bound – she has an inoperable tumour in her foot making walking almost impossible. "Until I can get a new scooter, it is going to make it very difficult for me to get out and about," she said. "I have got in touch with a charity who say that may be able to help me out, but that could take anything up to two months before that happens." She is urging anyone who knows who may have taken the scooter to talk to the police, but is also appealing to anyone who has a mobility scooter they may be able to lend her. Anyone who may be able to help her can contact the Central Somerset Gazette and we will pass your details on to her.
