This week's Looking Back remembers a time when some sunshine was brought to a snowy Wells.
Back in 1985 the Wells Operatic Society staged a production of South Pacific, and received anything but a chilly reception.
Under the headline "South Pole or South Pacific" this publicity shot from February 14, 1985, shows some of the cast braving wintry conditions by the Bishop's Palace.
A couple of weeks later the show was staged at the Regal on Priory Road, now the site of Kudos nightclub.
The review in the Journal of February 28 was glowing, declaring it "another outstanding success". It made the front page.
"Even the first night performance went off without a hitch, although producer Ian Ritchie said it was the first time the cast had worked with the lights and scenery in the Regal.
"Although the songs and story are familiar to most people there were some innovative touches this year, bringing welcome freshness and an element of surprise.
"The result was a musical guaranteed to appeal to all tastes. Certainly the packed house present for the first night thoroughly enjoyed it."
Mr Ritchie said: "We tried to steer away from the usual singing and dancing routines. In the chorus camp scenes we used a few people in wheelchairs to give a sense of movement and make it a bit different.
"We had a lot of fun doing it. I think the whole production is better if the cast are enjoying themselves."
