Kite flyers will be taking to the beach at Weston-super-Mare in June for a new festival.
Organisers working with North Somerset Council hope that the festival will become an annual fixture and help to attract more visitors to the area.
Invited guest flyers will join with local kite group Avon Kite Flyers in staging aerial displays on the beach on June 8 and 9.
Giant 3D creatures will join power kites and synchronised team routines flown to music.
It is organised by Avril and Martin Baker, part of the team behind the Bristol International Kite Festival.
Mr Baker said: "Weston beach is a great flying site with plenty of space for the experts and amateurs alike to join in the fun.
"We hope that the festival will attract many kite enthusiasts as well as providing an added spectacle for those visiting Weston on their holidays or for a family day out on the beach.
"We would like to thank North Somerset Council for their help and support to date in helping to stage this event and look forward to putting on a really successful show for all concerned."
Cllr Felicity Baker, North Somerset Council's executive member for tourism and leisure, added: "This is another great example of how we are working closely with different organisations to get events like this off the ground.
"The beach is a great venue for this type of festival and I have no doubt it will be a colourful and fantastic spectacle for everyone going to watch."
