Police are investigating after a woman was threatened with a knife during an attempted robbery in Bridgwater.
Avon and Somerset Police said two women were walking down Piggy Lane in the town when they were approached by two men at around 10.45pm on Thursday, January 10.
"One of the women was threatened with a knife while the men attempted to take one of their handbags," said a police spokesman.
"This was unsuccessful and the two men left on bicycles through Piggy Street and onto Redgate Street.
"The victims saw two people enter the lane from the Clarks Road/Redgate Street direction. It is thought these were possibly female and they may have been walking a dog.
"These two people may have important information which could help the investigation and we are appealing for them to come forward."
Police said two men, aged 24 and 20, were arrested on suspicion of robbery within an hour of the incident. They have been released on bail while investigations continue.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any information, should call police on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
