Yeovil racer Martin Jessopp aims to resolve "unfinished business" when he returns to MCE British Superbikes this year.
After a winter of uncertainty, the 27-year-old has finalised plans for the 2013 season and will head back to the 1000cc class he left a little over 12 months ago.
Jessopp, who spent a frustrating 2012 competing in World Supersport, will be the sole member of the Ridersmotorcycles.com BMW team.
As well as targeting the top end of the BSB grid, the new outfit will also boast a full-specification World Superbike for wildcard entries and a Superstock ride for selected road races.
Father-of-one Jessopp said he was planning on continuing from where he left off with Rapid Riders Ducati in 2011 and ensure racing enthusiasts are made well-aware of his talents.
"We're back to deal with unfinished business," he said. "We took a year away, which didn't really work and I would like to be up in the World Superbikes but without a big sponsor that was not possible.
"The intention is to carry on from where I left off, improving from my finishes that were just shy of the podiums. I want to be straight back there.
"In hindsight, the 600cc plan didn't work and I could really have done with another year in BSB to go out and try and get some podiums, earning some progress.
"But this is now my chance to get back out there and do that. I may have been forgotten going to World Supersport and not getting the results I wanted, dropping off the radar a bit. But I am intending to change that starting from race one at Brands Hatch in April."
Jessopp admitted his choice of machinery may surprise, particularly after a recent visit to Ducati HQ in Italy set tongues wagging on social networks.
He said: "When we went to Italy a while ago everyone thought we were off to Ducati. BMW Motorrad Italia GoldBet - the factory BMW garage for the World Superbikes series - is now based in Italy so we were actually down there having a meeting with them.
"It was just by chance that their headquarters is 20 minutes from Ducati so we made sure we went to see them as well.
"It was quite funny as I tagged on my Twitter and Facebook accounts that we were at Ducati and everyone read too much into it. People thought I would be back in BSB with Ducati.
"A few people must have worked out what we were doing as we have been ordering parts but those are only people within the industry and only a few knew.
"I think it will be a surprise to a few with the machinery we have chosen but I have had a little bit of experience on a BMW with the Superstocks before.
"It's such a good bike straight out of the crate and, like with everything we do, we are really going with a full effort. We are going to be building a good bike that is not going to be a standard bike for the BSB, we want something to be better.
"We are going to be working closely with Alpha Racing, who have operated the factory BMW operation out of Germany for the last five years. The contract has gone from them now to GoldBet in Italy. We are close to both of the teams so we are building some really good bikes."
