Some 180 drivers have been arrested for drink or drug driving offences across Avon and Somerset since the launch of a December crackdown.
The arrests have been made as part of the police's Operation Tonic.
During last year's campaign, 231 drivers were arrested for drink and drug driving offences in the force area, with 7,000 arrested nationally.
As part of Operation Tonic, officers from the roads policing unit have been acting on intelligence to target known "hot spots" and reacting to public information provided about drivers believed to be drink driving.
This year, members of the public are being urged to shop a drink or drug driver by ringing 999 or texting the word "drunk" to a special number, 81819, and giving the driver's details.
Almost 1,000 targeted stops have been held by police across the force area over the past three weeks.
Drivers caught drinking and driving risk a fine of up to £5,000 and a minimum 12 month driving ban.
