Somerset farmer's son Henry Pym topped the expert class results in the Yeo Vale club's annual charity trial at Stoford during which £300 has raised for the St Margaret's Hospice in Yeovil in memory of former club member John Scott, who died earlier in the year.
Over three laps of ten sections at Rooks Mountain, Pym lost one less mark than Ben Lovelace and four fewer than Ty Kellett.
With hard standing available in the nearby station car park, the event attracted 94 starters.
Pym lost all his marks in the seventh section, which, with the seconds, were the more difficult hazards. Lovelace lost three in the second but he made light work of the seventh on every lap. However, he also lost marks in the first and last sections.
One mark separated the top three in the pastmasters class in which the lead changed hands on several occasions until Richard Fry gained the advantage half way through the final lap, when after a 45- minute storm conditions worsened.
Kurt Brain was a clear winner of the expert class in the Kingswood club final round of their club trials series at Cromhall in South Gloucestershire.
In four laps of ten sections at west and muddy Conygre Fields, he dropped 36 fewer marks than Fred Adams but as he had not contested the earlier rounds, he did not figure in the overall results.
Bristol's Lee Hassall won the expert's class but he retired from Sunday's contest in the early stages after incurring a knee injury.
The last section, a steep and slippery climb, proved to be a major stumbling block with Brain, Adams and Rob Scott losing 18 marks there.
Plymouth's Martin Gilbert scored a two-mark win over Geoff Muston in the twin shock class on the main route in the West of England club's annual long distance trial in the Teignbridge and South Hams areas of Devon.
An entry of 30-plus faced 29 sections in a single lap, former British sidecar trials champion Colin Dommett was a clear winner of the British Bike class on the same route.RESULTS
